Born and raised on the west coast of Norway, producer Otha’s (aka Othalie Husøy) sound draws on a rich vein of Scandinavian pop and electronica.
Following on from her 2018 double bill of dreamy and hazy dance tracks ‘I’m on Top’ and ‘One of the Girls’ comes ‘Tired and Sick’; equally danceable but more a more hyperactive, muscular and jittery experience. ‘Tired and Sick’ is a manic, stress-induced stream-of-consciousness transformed into an irresistible dancefloor ready jam. She recounts her internal monologue of life’s anxieties over an addictive pulsing and driving club beat. Or, as Otha succinctly puts it, “It’s an outburst song. And I hope that one day we can all be a little nicer to each other.” While previous singles are while less manic / more dreamy, all three songs have a commonality; they look to the dance-floor to explore ideas about the outsider, control, public identity, and a private, more hidden self – and, of course, are phenomenal tunes.
