‘I Wanna Fight Your Father’ is the new single from Rubberbandits who will no doubt be hoping to capitalize on the massive success of ‘Horse Outside’. It’s that well versed eternal love story of boy meets girl, boy fights father.

‘I Wanna Fight Your Father’ is out today – They play Dublin’s Olympia Theatre on April 21st.

Pac-Man at 30

It has to be said Pac-Man is looking pretty well for a lad who’s been poppin’ pills since 1980. Just so you don’t think I’ve lost the plot altogether it’s the 30th anniversary of the release of landmark computer game Pac-Man. I have always been really shit at the game but much like Tetris it’s served me well over the years in wasting time especially when I should be doing something more productive.

In a fitting or not so fitting tribute here is a Pac-Man inspired tune from Ed Rush & Optical, one of the greatest stunts from French prankster Remi Gaillard before leaving you with the immortal words of Kristian Wilson from Nintendo, “Computer games don’t affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we’d all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music”.

American: The Bill Hicks Story

This week will see American: The Bill Hicks Story hit our screens 15 years after his death and hopefully it does him and his extraordinary talent justice. Hicks was probably the most provocative and independent comedians of all time, never a joke-teller, he created laughs with his distinctively frank take on life, “You know what we should have done,’ he said. ‘Instead of bombing the Iraqis, we should have embarrassed them. We should have assassinated Bush”.

His timeless comedy tackled the contradictions of America and modern life full on, lambasting the hypocrisies of the Gulf war, American gun law and of the pro- life movement using nothing but his hilarious ideas and the uncompromising observational style that continues to resonate with successive generations.

This new feature-length documentary combines live footage with a stunning new animation technique manipulating 1,000s of photographs to uniquely immerse the audiences in his world and is re-told from the point-of-view of the people who shared it with him.

Definitely gonna check this out, one of my favourite comedians of all time, American: The Bill Hicks Story runs from May 14th – 27th in the IFI, Temple Bar, Dublin.

David Cameron ‘Common People’

With just ten days untill voters in the UK go to the polls I’m pretty sure lots of you have already seen this but I hadn’t until today. Someone has cleverly remade Pulp’s classic ‘Common People’ as though David Cameron was singing it, unsurprisingly he isn’t portrayed favourably, it’s no William Shatner version but it’s definitely worth a giggle.
