While not familiar with The Leisure Society‘s earlier efforts, it is something I feel I should certainly rectify if ‘The Sober Scent of Paper’ is anything to go by.
The Leisure Society are gearing up to release their brand new LP, Alone Aboard the Ark in April, with ‘The Sober Scent of Paper’ acting as a taste of what to expect. It is a ukulele-led ballad of hushed melancholy, met with lavish orchestral touches and sweeping vocals of melodious frailty from Nick Hemming. A chilling and beautiful song, which does everything but disappoint.
You can listen to ‘The Sober Scent of Paper’ below and make up your own mind. Between now and April, there is just enough time for me to become acquainted with some of their back catalogue too.
