Paris Love-Child (PL-C) is London-based singer, songwriter, DJ and model who is blurring the lines between hip-hop, grime, dancehall & electronic.

Latest single ‘Don’t Leave it Alone’ more heavily indebted to the former irresistible; it is brilliant, cool, staggeringly smooth and funky disco-jam. Shuffling along an irresistible, swaggering groove, crisp, popping neon beats, phasing bursts of frazzled electronics, winding synth and super smooth soulful vocals are all employed to bring about eight-minutes of spacey synth-disco, and it’s one hell of a ride! ‘Don’t Leave it Alone’ is rather special; beautifully crafted it is a real groover of resplendent colour, pulsating and relentless electronics.

UK trio Patawawa spent the past 18 months or so carving out a rep for sublime, sassy and infectious, disco-infused charmers – and they are signing off on 2018 in similar fashion.

It’s been a good year for the trio and Patawawa are ending on a high with floorfiller ‘Wires’. Highly infectious and unequivocally danceable, it radiates an air of unquestionable coolness as it swaggers on a funky bassline and buoyant melody. And last but certainly not least, lead singer, Beth Garrett’s melodious vocal glides effortlessly over this solid disco groove. Introducing: Patawawa

17362406_1870828766506908_4204676389808209901_n

UK trio Patawawa spent the past 12 months carving out a rep for sublime, sassy and infectious, disco-infused charmers – and they’ve kicked off 2018 in a similar stead, with the release of their debut EP, Bedroom.

Really what they do is disco, pure and simple, and they do it rather bloody well. This is old-school disco, with touches of funk and soul, and shades of ’90s/’00s French house – brought together with a modern-twist. ‘Patagonia’ is a shiny, glossy and feel-good tune that brings party vibes, radiating an air of unquestionable coolness as it swaggers on a funky bassline and buoyant melody – highly infectious and danceable. While delivered at a fraction slower tempo, ‘Song For Sam’ is another instantly infectious gem. A silky piece of slinky disco, worming its way into your consciousness with a shuffling, stuttering, funky bassline, deep irresistible groove and choppy guitar. The final gloss is given by a perfect companion, that being the pleasant, easy-on-the-ear and divine, interchanging vocals. Patawawa dare to disco, and it is a joy!

Monuson – ‘Firm Grip’ (feat. Kami Diser)

firmgrip_standard-770x770

Scandinavia is famed for it’s quirky, eccentric and forward-thinking music steeped in all manner of experimental tendencies.

Swedish producer Monuson is no exception to this assertion, especially given the evidence provided by his sublime debut single ‘Firm Grip’, Monuson. This one here is a slow churning, gently building, moody and deeply atmospheric blend of downtempo house meets disco. ‘Firm Grip’ is hypnotic, gripping and transportive, it slowly moves through the gears with dark and groovy electro beats toward a climactic build up. Kami Diser’s vocals flit between dazed and dreamy to euphoric vitality, perfectly complimenting Monuson’s craft, who provides brief chinks of light provided by the fluttering samples and stabs of synth to elevate the hazy house vibes. A captivating intro as you’re likely to cross paths with and on this evidence, both Monuson and Kami Diser are names to look out for.

‘Firm Grip’ (feat. Kami Diser) is out now, you can listen to it below.

Bad Sounds Share Bright & Brassy New Single ‘Wages’

badsounds_1500x1000

Despite their self-deprecating handle, Bad Sounds bring the party vibes with deliciously catchy and funky, kaleidoscopic pop.

Much like the Bath 5-piece’s previous single, ‘Avalanche’, ‘Wages’ is insanely catchy, extremely addictive and pretty brilliant. Occupying a similarly luminescent space on the landscape as The Go! Team at their best, ‘Wages’ is a syrupy brew of big, brassy disco-funk, hip-hop and fun fun fun. Fusing bright pop hooks, fuzzy guitars, high-pitched harmonies, with an irresistible groove, sing-a-long lyrics and more horns than a randy goat – we’re treated to a fun-filled barrel-roll through the genres and decades. Impressively, ‘Wages’ joins ‘Avalanche’ as two of the most thrilling, fun-filled and addictive singles of 2016, and sure to leave an indelible mark on your soul. Not bad for a band starting out, no?

You can listen to the bright and brassy ‘Wages’ below and it is out now. It does not disappoint!

Introducing: Asa Moto

13719656_1213588505372479_6494740830919783133_o

Asa Moto are the Ghent-based duo of Olivier Geerts and Gilles Noë.

The Belgian pair recently released their very first EP on DEEWEE, the label created by the Dewaele brothers – you might know them better as the men behind 2ManyDJs and Soulwax. This excellent effort features two incredible, irresistible tracks. Firstly – ‘Wanowan Efem’ blends touches of disco and house into a nice neat package with an undeniably danceable groove. It draws it’s unearthly, cosmic powers from a funky analogue bassline, bongo-infused beat shuffle and polished off with a ‘Wanowan Efem’ vocal chant. ‘Stay Awake’ meanwhile, harnesses a much more down-tempo rhythm. Combined spaced-out synths, phased drones and metallic percussion, with a sort of slo-mo state of hypnosis and a groove that reaches into the realms of late ’80s / early ’90s Balearic acid house. Two highly danceable tunes that captivate entirely, from two rather promising producers to key an eye on.

Asa Moto’s debut EP ‘Stay Awake’ / ‘Wanowan Efem’ is out now and it comes highly recommended. Check it out below and buy it here.

Cuinciu – ‘Radium Girls’

12043133_958217520908972_3646438805369039906_n

For the best part of 2015, Irish producer Ross McDonald has been devoting most of his attention to his Open Window project but McDonald has returned to his Cuinciu guise with a brand new single.

Entitled ‘Radium Girls’, the Wicklow native serves up a wonderfully bright, upbeat and funky slice of dance, disco and electronica infused electro-pop. Constructed around a forceful, bouncy beat and infectious rythmic groove, it bobs along rippling synths, popping percussion and chiming guitars, as it moves along on its merry way with quite a swagger. It is a jovial and playfully natured tune that offers an intricately produced insight in the talent McDonald has at his disposal. Continuing to draw inspiration from a deep well of hip hop, synth pop, disco and electronic influences, Cuinciu delivers a cracking upbeat piece of electronica with a healthy dose of disco-infused ’80s electo-pop vibes. Yet another rather convincing effort from one of my very favourite producers in Ireland right now.

You can check out ‘Radium Girls’ for yourself below, and you can download it gratis, from here.
