Over the years Merseyside has supplied the world with some of the finest musical talent. It’s nice to see this tradition is alive and well. Step forward Wirral five piece The Sundowners. Forming last year, they spent time studiously perfecting songs while wooing audiences across the UK with the likes of Folks and Cats Eyes.
These timeless and heart warming songs stem from a joyous mix of close knit harmonies, rich vocals, wonderful guitar playing and an appreciation of Fleetwood Mac, Crosby Stills and Nash, The Byrds and The Coral. It is worth mentioning too that considering lead guitarist Alfie and vocalist Fiona are brother and sister of The Coral’s James and Ian Skelly, imagine what it’s like round their house?
While these might only be demos, but, there’s something really great and timeless about them, hopefully there is a proper release in 2012.
