TOLEDO – ‘Some Samurai’

Revolving around the Brooklyn-based pairing of Dan Alvarez and Jordan Dunn, TOLEDO have have drip-feeding us charming delights from their debut EP, Hot Stuff over recent months, and bewitching us in the process.

The long awaited EP has now arrived and is led by ‘Some Samurai’ which, unsurprisingly, is quintessentially TOLEDO – it is a sweet, heartfelt and melodic indie-folk delight. It is a hazy, shimmer of sweet indie-pop lightly dusted with fuzz and dripping with melody that flutters and flickers as lilting vocals flow gently on by. ‘Some Samurai’ is a lush heartfelt beauty, glowing with richness and warmth, and once again proving Toledo the masters of hook, harmony and heart. An absolute beauty, ‘Some Samurai’ will leave you powerless to resist its allure but all the better for it.

TOLEDO – ‘Qué Pasa?’

Revolving around the Brooklyn-based pairing of Dan Alvarez and Jordan Dunn, Toledo have have drip-feeding us charming delights from their forthcoming debut album over the past while, and bewitching us in the process.

The good news is Toledo will release their aforementioned debut, HotStuff in March and the latest single lifted from it, is without question the best yet. ‘Qué Pasa?’ is a heartfelt, lush and melodic slice of indie-folk delight. Dripping with melody as hushed, lilting vocals flow gently on by amid a sea of richness and warmth, flourishes of soft drums and state of tranquillity. ‘Qué Pasa?’ proves Toledo the masters of hook, harmony and heart. It is one of those songs, filled with such heartfelt beauty, glowing with warmth and marked by just the right amount of melancholy, that will leave you unable to resist its allure but all the better for it. An absolute joy!

Toledo – ‘Bath’

Revolving around Brooklyn-based pair Dan Alvarez and Jordan Dunn, Toledo have shared a brand new single called ‘Bath’.

‘Bath’ will take its place on Toledo’s debut EP, HotStuff, penned in for release early in the New Year, and follows a similarly mellow, undulating trajectory as previous single ‘Hot Stuff’. It is laid-back, dreamy and melodic folk augmented by gently chiming guitar, bubbling synth and flourishes of soft drums that bring us to a spellbinding world of elegant, melodic and crystalline indie-folk tones. The hushed, somewhat sombre vocals grow as it progresses, bringing with it a warmth that a swells brighter until the end. This is a mellow, atmospheric and wonderful world of folky allure – an absolute treasure. Enjoy!

TOLEDO – ‘Hot Stuff’

Lead by Boston-based pair Dan Alvarez and Jordan Dunn, Indie-folk foursome Toledo are preparing to release their debut EP early next year.

Following on from the sunny and atmospheric sounds of single ‘Crane Song’, released earlier this year, the new EP is called Hot Stuff, and is penned for release in February 2019. Ahead of which they have kindly afforded us a glimpse of what we may expect in the shape of lead single and title-track, ‘Hot Stuff’ – which follows a similar mellow, undulating trajectory as the previous single. Dreamy, melodic folk vocals are augmented by a gently picked guitar, flourishes of soft drums before picking up pace, wandering into a warped world of mild psych-pop. ‘Hot Stuff’ has an abundance of warmth and divine harmonies that draw you into this lush, atmospheric and heavenly world of folky allure. An absolute treasure and full of surprises this one. Enjoy!

Toledo – ‘Crane Song’

Boston-based Indie-folk foursome, Toledo are preparing to release a new album this year, ahead of which they have kindly afforded us a glimpse of what we may expect in the shape of lead single ‘Crane Song’.

Deeply melodic folk vocals are supplemented by a gently picked guitar, brush cymbals and dark choral harmonies but ‘Crane Song’ is anything but a conventional indie-folk tune. At the halfway mark the acoustic atmospheric-folk gives way to a more sunny and spritely disposition, filling the spaces with luscious, dreamy slackerish psych-pop. An absolute delight and full of surprises this one. Enjoy!
