Asa Moto are the Ghent-based duo of Olivier Geerts and Gilles Noë.

The Belgian pair recently released their very first EP on DEEWEE, the label created by the Dewaele brothers – you might know them better as the men behind 2ManyDJs and Soulwax. This excellent effort features two incredible, irresistible tracks. Firstly – ‘Wanowan Efem’ blends touches of disco and house into a nice neat package with an undeniably danceable groove. It draws it’s unearthly, cosmic powers from a funky analogue bassline, bongo-infused beat shuffle and polished off with a ‘Wanowan Efem’ vocal chant. ‘Stay Awake’ meanwhile, harnesses a much more down-tempo rhythm. Combined spaced-out synths, phased drones and metallic percussion, with a sort of slo-mo state of hypnosis and a groove that reaches into the realms of late ’80s / early ’90s Balearic acid house. Two highly danceable tunes that captivate entirely, from two rather promising producers to key an eye on.

Asa Moto’s debut EP ‘Stay Awake’ / ‘Wanowan Efem’ is out now and it comes highly recommended. Check it out below and buy it here.

Hot Chip – ‘Huarache Lights’ (Soulwax Remix)

SOULWAX-X-HOT-CHIP

Soulwax have been providing us with a bountiful yield of top quality remix action of late.

The Belgian pair’s hot-streak of superb remixes continues with a brand-new rework of Hot Chip’s ‘Huarache Lights’. To be fair, the original was already a cracker, and similarly to their Tame Impala remix (see below), Soulwax have built from that base to serve up a re-imagining that is all kinds of wonderful. They flesh out the tune with increased spaciousness and dynamism before knocking the original synth up another level, and then cutting it all back entirely to unleash their funk. Impossible not to be affected by the insidious infectious of this one; it’s guaranteed to get you moving. Soulwax do tend to have a habit of doing that, right?

You can take a listen below along with some colourful visuals. The deluxe edition of Hot Chip’s latest album Why Make Sense? is out on October 24th.

Metronomy – ‘Love Letters’ (Soulwax Remix)

If there is one name that garners intrigue and excitement when it comes to remixes, it’s Soulwax. And of course, this isn’t without merit, Soulwax never disappoint.

For the guts of 10 years or so their’s is a name which has become synonymous with top notch reworks, so it comes as no surprise that their remix of Metronomy’s new single ‘Love Letters’ is nothing short of brilliant. Their rework retains the best bits of the original, the elegance and smooth soul-infused allure, only to be transformed into disco-funk dancefloor filler with a a heavy hypnotic bassline. From the mild opening with frantic tapping of typewriters to the jazzy horn solo toward the conclusion, this is pure and divine disco hypnosis.

Check Soulwax’s rework below and Listen to Metronomy’s Love Letters on Spotify.
