Lizzie And The Yes Men – ‘Walk Alone’

After a number of contagious singles, a la ‘The Boardwalk‘ & ‘Deserts‘, Lizzie And The Yes Men are back with a brand new single ‘Walk Alone’. And it offers a little bit of a different side to the London based quartet.

‘Walk Alone’ is the title track from their upcoming EP and while previous releases tended toward the catchy and infectious, their latest offering is conversely something more sullen and down-tempo. It is imbued with a rather weary and mournful disposition, filled with woe and a supreme emotional weight. Amidst the gentle strum, hum of bass and soft gloomy percussion the alluring vocals from lead singer Lizzie stand tallest, she delivers her most powerful and emotional vocal performance to date. A stunning, if somewhat different display from Lizzie and her Yes Men.

The Walk Alone EP is out on August 4th through New York label ‘100M Records’. You can try the title track out for size below.

Lizzie and the Yes Men made their presence known with their fabulously upbeat debut single ‘Boardwalk’. The London outfit have returned with another sublime slice of indie-pop in ‘Deserts’.

The latest cut has a little more of a down tempo nocturnal atmosphere, less instantly catchy than it’s predecessor, it is just as impressive. They seem to have a knack for eking out a perfect space between catchy pop song and twangy indie guitar music, long may it continue. Hopefully we’ll be hearing plenty more from Lizzie and the Yes Men in 2013, for now though, they’re signing off 2012 in style with ‘Deserts’.

‘Deserts’ is out on December 10th but for now you can watch the Laurence Von Thomas directed video below.

Introducing: Lizzie and the Yes Men

Based in east London Lizzie and the Yes Men conjure up a lovable blend of ’60s surf and mod sounds with wonderfully catchy indie jingles.

The result? Sharp, snappy and infectious three minute (ish) pop songs. ‘The Boardwalk’ is not only a perfect example of what Lizzie & Co. are all about, it is also one of the best indie pop songs you’ll hear all year. ‘The Boardwalk’ oozes a summery vibe, combined with catchy surf guitars and whistling with Lizzie’s upbeat and cheerful vocals. ‘The Boardwalk’, ‘The Lonliness’ and ‘You & I Both Know’ are utterly infectious and will undoubtedly become ingrained inside your head.

Double a-side single ”The Broadwalk/The Loneliness’ is released on the 4th June 2012.
