Dublin-based producer Faws has returned with the Blue Notes EP, a follow up to his sublime debut EP, Antonym, released in December of last year.

Faws continues to retain his cherished anonymity, quite an achievement considering the overwhelmingly positive response to his first release. It could be suggested that this allows the music speak for itself devoid of distractions.

Blue Notes is another journey through very different environments of sound, comprised of  ambient electronic atmospherics adorned with rich textures, beats, crackles and samples. It is very much a nocturnal, after hours release. Unusual, mysterious and hugely enthralling.

Faws – ‘Whitney’

We were introduced to Faws earlier in the year with the release of his sublime debut EP, Antonym.

The anonymous Dublin producer is back and gearing up to release his second EP, Blue Notes. New track ‘Whitney’ reveals an insight into what we can expect from his new EP. ‘Whitney is an ambient and laid back jam with something of an aquatic feel.

The details to when Blue Notes will be released are pretty scarce, but needless to say ‘Whitney’ is more than enough to be getting on with.

Introducing: Faws – ‘Dublin-based minimal ambient electronic sounds’

Little is known about Faws, an anonymous Dublin-based producer who took the unusual step of releasing the Antonym EP on Christmas Eve.

A decision for many that would be deemed commercial suicide but it’s admirable to see things been done different in avoiding the usual fanfare and distractions and letting the music speak for itself. He has set out to do just that, to “pave his own sound, and disconnect the music from any persona, letting the music speak for itself.” This not your run of the mill artist right here but who cares?

Influenced by Burial to Mos Def, the former being more obvious, Faws takes the listener on a meandering jaunt through a world of minimal ambient electronics with clean, crisp beats and rich textures which create dark atmospheres, emotion and a feeling of venturing into the unknown.

The Antonym EP is not on sale yet but is available to stream via Bandcamp. It will take quite a few listens to fully appreciate but it is worth it, this is a stylish debut from a promising and mysterious talent.
