CIEL – ‘Never Alone Again’

Brighton-based, Dutch dream-pop trio CIEL return with new single ‘Never Alone Again’, continuing their streak for irresistible bouts of dream-pop perfection.

With CIEL we have become accustomed to them striking a perfect balance between indie-rock and dreamy pop, and  ‘Never Alone Again’ continues this trend with aplomb. While hazy, dreamy and richly melodic, there is also a harder edge to proceedings as a propulsive riff buzzes, ushers us forward through a wall of warm fuzz and distortion, lush shimmering synth and swirling hazy atmospherics – an alluring elixir for the hushed, dreamy and nonchalant vocals to thrive. A mesmerizing slice of melodic yet muscular jam that is all things evocative, dreamy and rocking – and brilliant

CIEL – ‘All My Life’

CIEL are Brighton-based, Dutch dream-pop trio fronted by Michelle Hindriks.

Together, the trio concoct a heady brew of starry-eyed dream pop with shoegaze, psych and indie brushstrokes – demonstrated exquisitely by their debut EP Movement earlier in 2020. The trio are back with a brand new single ‘All My Life’.

It is another sumptuous single that marks yet further evolution of their dream-pop origins. Opening with a gently pulsing synth underpinning Hindriks’ dreamy tones as we are slowly enveloped by a woozy wonderland before a change of pace, as it surges atop bristling guitars and huge hooks to anthemic heights. It is still dreamy and richly melodic but there is a harder edge to it with CIEL striking a perfect balance between indie-rock and dreamy pop, synths and guitars, and power and elegance.

CIEL – ‘Days’

CIEL are Brighton-based, Dutch dream-pop trio fronted by Michelle Hindriks (also of Sväva).

Together, Hidrinks and company concoct a heady brew of starry-eyed dream pop with shoegaze, psych and indie brushstrokes – beautifully demonstrated by new single ‘Days’. Lifted from the forthcoming debut Movement EP, ‘Days’ is a swirling cloud of hazy and magical charm as bright guitars soar to heavenly heights while cymbal-heavy percussion plunge in the opposite direction in something of a psych see-saw action. Amid this shimmering haze melodies come flying out at all angles over and lush dreamy vocals fly above while way beneath a bubbling propulsive groove rumbles with motorik precision. It is absolutely stunning – power, procession and beauty in all the right quantities.
