Hull-based outfit bdrmm have been blurring the lines between ‘90s indie, shoegaze, psych and dream pop since 2018, and dazzling us in the process.
Following on from their debut EP in 2019, bdrmm are now focused on their debut album. Recorded and mixed by Alex Greaves (Working Mens Club, Bo Ningen) and mastered by Heba Kadry (Slowdive, Beach House) the record is led by new single ‘Happy’. Simultaneously taut and dreamy, ‘Happy’ hares off along a propulsive rhythmic groove with clipped guitar lines and while reverb-drenched vocals float above the shimmering haze of atmospheric splendor. It is whizzes and fizzes by as those guitars glisten amid the glorious cloud of mild fuzz and distortion. An utterly dazzling tune, and one that harnesses its core strength from embracing the combination of seemingly opposites as the lead guitar spirals into the hushed, dreamy vocals and emphatic rhythmic energy.
Listen to ‘Happy’ below – there is no concrete date for the album but expect it sometime later in the year.
