Canadian producer moon:and:6 is preparing to release a new mini album, A Brief History of American Space Travel, A conceptual record, it outlines the American Space program from 1958 to 2011.

Ahead of the record’s release in March, comes ‘Welcome to Space'; the first single to be lifted from the forthcoming new album. Playing with the anticipation and eagerness towards blasting into space, ‘Welcome to Space’ is a rocket-fuelled triumph, spectacularly relaying the wonder, awe, glamour of the early days of the space race. Flitting between elements of French-style electronica, downtempo and post rock, aided by ambient textures and an irresistible groove, it tells the tale of the attempts to put the first humans into space, and uses a voice sample that was taken from NASA’s audio archives. A stunning and fascinating introduction to an album that sounds like a very promising prospect indeed.

The album is released on March 3 through Maisonneuve Music, ahead of which you can stream ‘Welcome to Space’ – and watch the fantastic video comprised of archival footage – below.

British Sea Power Announce New Album; Share Single ‘Bad Bohemian’

British Sea Power 2017

Returning with their first new material in four years, British Sea Power have announced a new album, Let The Dancers Inherit The Party. Set for release on March 31, British Sea Power have shared the first single taken from it – ‘Bad Bohemian’.

A jubilant and infectious three-minutes, ‘Bad Bohemian’ is marked by a signature invigorating rush of bittersweet indie-rock; the kind they have been masters of since introducing themselves back in 2002. This is British Sea Power at their best; bright, stirring vocals against a backdrop of cascading guitars and meaty percussion. It certainly bodes well for the new record, who’s twelve songs are set to cover subject matters ranging from the stars in the night sky to the methodology of media manipulation. Promised to be both consistently contemporary and consistent in mood, the album alludes to a world full of chaos and disorder whilst seeking to answer that world with optimism and hope. While the new record’s release is still a while off, it’s time to enjoy the delights of ‘Bad Bohemian’.

Let The Dancers Inherit The Party is out on 31st March. Listen to ‘Bad Bohemian’ below.

Psychic Love – ‘Red Sun’

This is not the first time that we’ve been wooed by Psychic Love’s woozy, dreamy indie stylings.

The LA-based trio – spearheaded by Laura Peters along with Max Harrison (guitar) and Liam McCormack (bass) – released their wonderful debut album, The Hive Mind at the back end of last year; and they have shared the latest offering from it, ‘Red Sun’. All twangy, atmospheric guitars and steady clicking beat, while the smokey-sweet vocals from Peters add further to the woozy and dreamy, yet melancholic and brooding dimension of ‘Red Sun’. A highlight from their debut LP and an excellent choice of single, which is a reminder, or introduction, to Psychic Love’s laid-back indie stylings.

You can check out ‘Red Sun’ below and Psychic Love’s debut album The Hive Mind is out now, stream it here.

The Deer Tracks – ‘Gossip’

Revolving around the two main protagonists of David Lehnberg & Elin Lindfors, The Deer Tracks have been brewing up their self described ‘Northern Light Electronica’ since 2008.

With a number of records already under their belt, in recent weeks, the Swedish pair returned with a new album Undersvik. ‘Gossip’ is the latest single to be lifted from the new record and exemplifies The Deer Tracks’ flair for dark, edgy electronica. With ‘Gossip’ they eek out a perfect balance between the dark, almost gothic, droney techno edge and Lindfors’ ethereal vocal. In doing so, it steadily evolves with the aid of a dynamic arsenal of stuttering beats, beautiful strings, soaring synths and mild underbelly of euphoria which blossoms sensationally at the end. A thrilling, irresistible and entrancing four minutes plus, that quickly locks you under its spell.

Undersvik has already been released digitally with a vinyl version scheduled for March of this year – stream it here. Listen to ‘Gossip’ below:

Ten Fé To Release Debut Album Next Month; Share ‘Twist Your Arm’

6. Ten Fé - press shot (B&W) - credit Imogen Love

Following countless great singles like ‘Overflow’ and ‘Make Me Better’ London-based duo Ten Fé – aka Ben Moorhouse and Leo Duncan – will release their debut album Hit The Light on February 3.

Produced by Ewan Pearson (Jagwar Ma, M83, The Rapture), ‘Twist Your Arm’ is the latest single to be lifted from the forthcoming album – and it’s a doozy. A real stomper, permeated by a sort of epic vibe, thanks to the combination of early ’90s carefree acid house, Screamadelica style vibes alongside shuffling lazy beats, Come Together style choirs and rather sublime Simple Minds-esque vocals. This is indie-music-to-dance-to of the highest order, all swirling, shuffling, feel-good and versatile. Having already released so many sublime singles over the last two years, ‘Twist Your Arm’ is the icing on the cake. And to use that old chestnut, the appetite has certainly been whetted.

Hit The Light is out on February 3 but for now, do yourself a favour and give ‘Twist Your Arm’ and the rather tasty Roman Flügel remix below.

Datura Daydream – ‘Sea Six’

Toronto based trio Datura Daydream – Kevin Robert Fong (vocal/guitar), David Larocque (bass) & Turner Roscoe Wigginton (drums) – have a flair when it comes to brewing cinematic psych/kraut inspired post-rock.

The trio have unleashed new single ‘Sea Six’ – and an accompanying video – the latest to be lifted from their recent album, The Lick Is In The Lisp and it is quite the epic. A sprawling, nine minute heady brew of swirling psych, hazy vocals and throbbing bass propelled forward by metronomic krautrock beats, ‘Sea Six’ flits between a beautiful, meandering dreamlike stasis and surging kaleidoscopic, cinematic crescendo. Which, by any standard, makes ‘Sea Six’ pretty damn spectacular.

The Lick Is In The Lisp is available to buy/stream right now from here. Before that however, you can check ‘Sea Six’ below.

Also, it is recommended you watch the video from beginning to end – it is well worth it – but be warned, there are lots of flashing lights etc.

And with the follow up to their marvellous self-titled debut set to arrive on February 17, through Flying Nun, the trio have provided another sneak peak in the form of ‘Tour’. As for the new single, it is catchy-as-they-come. Pitting together driving bass, pounding drums, fuzzed-up, dreamy guitar and sweet vocals; we are invited along an excursion to a fuzzy world of power-pop meets ’90s indie. ‘Tour’ is yet a another promising indication that The Courtneys II is an album to look out for.

‘Tour’ comes with the perfectly timed news that the band will be hitting the road in the next months, for a North American tour. All the dates are here. Meanwhile, soak up the new single below:
