Free Music: Vanguard Bots – ‘AudioLucinogens’

NYC producer and visual artist Vanguard Bots has released his debut EP, AudioLucinogens.

This is electronic music that leans heavily towards hip hop production with samples and beat-heavy everything. At times it’s melancholic, ghostly, atmospheric and gritty as the record explores the abstract eccentricity of the creator’s psyche. The EP, available as a free download, features 6 brand new tracks with ‘Life in Paradise’ and blipped-out ‘Codex Loss’ packing the weightiest punch of them all. Fans of Flying Lotus and beats in general will love this release.

You can stream a select few below or grab it for free from Soundcloud.

Ghostpoet feat. The D.O.T. – ‘Trouble’

Ghostpoet has already left his mark on 2011 with his rather unique debut, Peanut Butter Blues and Melancholy Jam.

Not content with that he has teamed up with one of his biggest fans, Mike Skinner and Rob Harvey (The D.O.T.)  to collaborate on a new track ‘Trouble’ for the latest Rizlab’s project. Fans of the contributing artists will, like me, be delighted with this development and even more so when they hear the result which is brilliant, absolutely brilliant. Damu’s rework is fantastic too adding steel drums, a hard edged sound and a general freshening up.

Don’t just take my word for it, give them a spin below and make up your own mind.

Introducing: Street Literature

Formed in 2008, Dublin hiphop crew Street Literature, have spent the last three years fine tuning a unique blend of raw Dublin street level hip-hop.

The result is an authentic style of passionate and hard-hitting hip hop with a wealth of head-nodding-beats and samples. Lyrically it is clever, intelligent and angry in portraying a pretty gritty depiction of life on Dublin’s Northside. Importantly it is not angry for angry’s sake, it is eloquent and well targeted in it’s delivery. Hip hop in this country tends to be overlooked but with slew of talent coming through at the moment, surely this can’t continue?

Their debut album Products of the Environment was released earlier in the year and can be downloaded for FREE from here.

Introducing: Danny Gruff and the Peacemakers

How could I not post about these guys, us ‘Gruffs’ must stick together right? This isn’t nepotism of any kind, most importantly the songs are great and deserving of your time.

Danny Gruff and the Peacemakers are a five piece Folk/Rock band formed by singer songwriter Danny Gruff in Wrexham. Danny has been playing solo for nearly 4 years, playing hundreds of shows across the UK including support slots for King Blues, Charlie Simpson, Terry Hall and Shaun Ryder just to name a few.

Earlier this year Danny Gruff and the Peacemakers released their first EP, Friends/Love/Drink. Taking cue from the likes of Frank Turner, they’re as comfortable with touching acoustic numbers as they are with rattling out racey, energetic and punkier. That said, there is a freshness to their music, due in no small part to his storytelling and musical talents which combine to turn great stories into wonderful songs.

You can stream some of the tracks from Friends/Love/Drink below or buy it here.

If her latest single ‘I See A Demon’ is any kind of benchmark, it will be a mouth watering prospect. ‘I See A Demon’ is a captivating number as her vocals wistfully flicker through smokey world of  somber darkness, marvelous!
